Who Doesn’t Love Holiday Jewelry?

As a former preschool teacher, I have to say that kids notice everything! They especially notice the jewelry their teachers wear. The holidays are an especially fun time to show off cute earrings and necklaces that you just can’t pull off any other time of year. Unfortunately, they can be a little expensive for items you will only wear for a few weeks a year. What if I told you that you can make your own Christmas themed jewelry quickly, easily and inexpensively?

It’s Time to Go to the Craft Store!

Where I live, there is a Hobby Lobby, a Michaels, a Joann Fabrics and a Dollar Tree all fairly close together. All of these stores usually start stocking Christmas miniatures just before Halloween. They’re great stores for finding bags of tiny charms that look like Christmas Lights and miniature ornaments, as well as other tiny tree charms to use as earrings. Most of them already have a ring on the top, but those that don’t have one can sometimes have one added.

Supplies:

You will need your choice of miniatures, fishhook style earrings, rubber earring backs and a pair of needle-nose pliers.

Instructions:

  1. Sort your miniatures into two of a color or charm.
  2. Twist the loop on the fishhook earring to the side to open it up. Twisting it to the side puts less stress on the metal than pulling it away from the other side.
  3. Put the loop on the top of the miniature or charm through the open loop on the fishhook.
  4. Twist the fishhook loop closed, so it is flush with the other side.
  5. Repeat on the other miniature or charm.

Your holiday earrings are done!

You can also make holiday necklaces using miniatures in just one step!

Supplies:

You will need slightly larger miniatures with holes or a loop on the top. a jump ring, a chain or cord necklace and a pair of needle-nose pliers.

Instructions:

  1. Put a jump ring through the miniature and add it to the necklace.

Thats it! It’s done!
