Why Paint Mini Canvas Ornaments?

Painting canvases is a lot of fun, but you only have room for so many on your wall. A fun way to paint lots of canvases inexpensively and not take up a lot of space is to paint mini canvases to hang on your Christmas tree! They’re quick and easy to paint, make great keepsakes and are also a unique handmade gift!

Mini canvases (about 4” x 4” or 3″ x 5″) can be found at almost any arts and crafts store as well as Walmart. They take very little paint to cover, so a small set of colors from the same store is really all you need.

Supplies:

You will need a square or rectangular mini canvas, a pencil, paintbrushes, acrylic paints, ribbon or an eye hook and string to hang them with.

Instructions:

With a pencil, draw the design you would like to paint. There are lots of ideas on Pinterest! If you want your background a solid color with a simple design on top, paint the whole canvas first, then draw your design.

Paint your design with acrylic paint. Don’t paint near wet paint or it could blend. Either dry your canvas between colors or paint sections that don’t touch.

If you like, you can add rhinestones, buttons, tiny pompoms or glitter using hot glue.

To hang your completed mini canvas, hot glue a ribbon loop onto the back or twist an eye hook into the top of the canvas then add an ornament hanger.
