Thanksgiving is a time to say thanks…it even says so in the name! A fun way to do that is to create a “Blessings Bowl”, filled with reminders of what everyone is thankful for.

Although this is a holiday craft, it’s also technically a jewelry project. I used a decorative glass bowl from the Dollar Tree, but everything else I used can be found at a craft store and are the same materials I use when I make stretchy bracelets.

Supplies:

I used a dollar tree glass bowl, a pair of scissors, a small plastic clip (a metal one is okay too), assorted brown beads, a wishbone charm, stretchy string and some superglue.

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of stretchy string long enough to go around the neck of the bowl twice. Attach a clip on one end so the beads won’t slip off as you add them to the other end.

2. String enough beads to go halfway around the neck of the bowl.

3. Add the charm of your choice. I used a wishbone charm, but there are many other charms such as a metal disc stamped with “blessed” or something similar on it that you could use.

4. Add more beads on the other side, then when the two sides are equal lengths, double check that it’s long enough to go around the neck of the bowl, take off the clip from the end, center the beads on the string and tie a double knot.

5. Add a little bit of superglue to the knot, then cut the extra string off after it dries. It will look like a slightly oversized bracelet.

6. Put it around the neck of the bowl.

7. Cut strips of paper to write what you are thankful for, fold and place them in the bowl, then read them on Thanksgiving.

You can also fill the bowl with candy and use as a decoration!
